Since most of my blog readers are mostly (hot) ladies, some available, some not... some Not-So-Single (i don't quite get what that means actually)... I have an experiment for you to try.
See, I've started using my own environmental bags when I do grocery shopping since about a few months back. Yes I'm trying to save the world in my own miniscule way. So far, I've always had guys who are in the queue at the cashier making remarks about how "cool" it is to do BYOBags and sometimes they will like, ahem, chat me up and things like that. Tapi kan, akak dah not in the market so akak tak pursue any further la. Sorry. (eh.. kenapa eh akak not in the market..??? heheheh. Now THAT is another posting altogether. Tapi mungkinkah akak akan kembali in the market?? Geez I'm digressing...)
Just two weeks ago, on a Saturday at Jusco, not one but TWO guys actually made remarks about my bags and how he wishes that "everyone would be like you, oh the world will be a better place". Spare me the saccharine-sweet "sincerity" la brader. The other elderly guy (40ish) went - "nice bag, where do you work? where do you stay?" errr.. so irrelevant la kan to saving the environment.
Why don't you guys participate in this little social experiment of mine? Bring your own bags for groceries, and see if you get chatted up. But don't la go to Bangsar Village or Cold Storage - you won't be the only hot chick carrying environmental bags. Hee hee. Try Giant, Carrefour or Jusco - the less sophisticated ones. See how many hot guys you can score. Betul! Cuba, jgn tak cuba!
So I'm thinking... if going "green" is one of the ways to pick up strangers, so be it. You're doing a lot of good for yourself (who knows you might land a smart and sexy guy who's also into saving the environment) and Mother Earth.

i've been using environmental bags since 2003. since that year, all supermarkets in SA charge you for those plastic bags coz they want to encourage people to recycle. so i have plastic bags in my car, handbags, all over la. i suruh nazlin beli anya's i'm-not-a-plasticbag bag in uk but tak dapat.... :(

By the way, I think those guys are using the bags purely as an excuse to chat you up. Must be the fact that you are still 'Hangat DiPasaran" Haha!
Like Adlina, in the Netherlands, you have to pay Euro20cent for each plastic bag in the supermarkets. Thus the reason people go green and bring their own bags.

Can I participate too? Who knows some hot guys will chat with me while queuing up at the cash register! But then again, I already get that in the gym.
I've been doing my shopping in Carrefoure Subang and so far, I have not seen a single (hot) chick carrying their own shopping bag.
Although I'm neither hot nor single, I do shop at Carrefour Subang. Okay, lemme be the first to start the trend there. Yippeeee!
i wanna try oso lar..hihi. but i dont usually do the grocery shopping lah. my sister does that..nevermind, no harm trying kan..alamak sounds desperate or not?
I always have a shopping bag in my handbag. :)And my own pair of chopsticks coz I eat out a lot and those wooden chopsticks are such a waste.

theta, rasanya now back in the market hahahahah. At this age, and after that tumultous marriage - i might think of becoming a lesbian :) and yes i think supermarket SHOULD charge something for their plastic bags.

I bring that blue ikea bag thingi. when i remember lah. but no, no such luck yet to be picked up by a drop dead gorgeous hunk while queing to pay. although a random chick did ask for my number at the tesco till. which was (and still is) uber weird.
